Special Transfers - Tub

Bathtub transfers are essential, and potentially hazardous, activity of everyday living for a SCI patient.

The increased slip hazards and possible height differences make this transfer more difficult for some. 

Although there is not currently much data supporting the best way to transfer biomechanically, there are two current transfer methods that can be utlized to increase and safety and efficacy of transfer

• Front Method
• Side Method

*It is recommended these transfers be done with a tub bench
