Front Method - Tub to Chair
Set-up phase
- Make sure the wheelchair is positioned facing the tub. Lock the brakes and remove the footrests. If necessary, the armrest should be removed.
- Again, position the transfer board so it “bridges” the space between the tub seat and wheelchair. It should rest under the buttocks and on the wheelchair seat.
Flight-End phase
- Have the patient grasp the wheelchair and tub seat or safety bar on the side of the tub.
- Carefully lift up and over the side of the tub and onto the wheelchair seat. (The legs should still be in the tub)
- Unlock the brakes. Back the wheelchair slowly from the tub until the feet are on the edge of the tub. Lock the brakes. Lift the feet onto the floor.
